TIL my uncle was right about not buying a house near Central and Louisiana
My uncle Ray lived off Central and Louisiana for almost 30 years and told me back in 2019 to avoid buying anywhere close to that intersection. He said the traffic noise never stops and the lots flood when the arroyos back up. I ignored him and got a place two blocks north because it was $40k cheaper than anything in Nob Hill. First monsoon after I moved in, water came up over my curb and soaked the garage. Then the bus route changed and now I hear brakes squealing from 5am to 11pm. Ray just smiled at the last family BBQ and asked how the cheap house was treating me. Anyone else here learn a neighborhood lesson the hard way after a relative warned you?
Learned the same lesson with a house I bought near a school zone because it was cheap, and now I get to wake up to crossing guards yelling at 7am every day. Turns out the only thing I saved was money, and I spent all of it on noise cancelling headphones and a sump pump. Your uncle Ray sounds like the kind of guy who's annoying right up until he's completely right.
