Warning: The old spot on Central near UNM is a whole new thing now
I drove past that empty lot by the Frontier for years, just weeds and a busted fence. Then about six months ago, they put up a big fence and started moving dirt. Now it's a little park with benches and some native plants, and I saw three people eating lunch there yesterday. It's wild how fast that happened. Has anyone heard if the city did it or was it a private thing?
Honestly I love it. That lot was such an eyesore for so long. I heard it was a city project with some grant money, but I'm just glad it's done. Makes the whole block feel less dead.
Yeah, that "less dead" feeling is the real win. I've started noticing it in a few places around town, where fixing one small spot seems to wake up the whole street.
Wow, I honestly thought that lot would sit empty forever. Seeing it turn into a usable spot so fast has me rethinking how these projects can work. It's a nice change of pace.
