I sneezed on a fountain in Savannah last month and now 400k people have seen my face
So last month I took a weekend trip to Savannah with my girlfriend and we hit up Forsyth Park on a Saturday around noon. She was taking a video of the fountain for her story and I was standing behind her, and right when she hit record I sneezed so hard my whole body jerked forward like I got tased. I didn't think anything of it, we laughed it off, she posted it that night as a joke to like 200 followers. Three days later I'm at work and my phone keeps buzzing, and somehow that clip got picked up by one of those meme accounts with a million followers. Suddenly I'm the Sneezing Fountain Guy and people are making edits of me with dramatic music and zooming in on my face frozen mid sneeze. I got tagged in like 400 posts in two days and a guy in Australia messaged me asking if he could put my face on a t-shirt, which I said yes to for $50 because why not. Last time I checked the original clip has around 400k views and I still get random comments on my old gym selfie asking if that's the sneeze guy. My mom thinks it's hilarious, my boss not so much, and my girlfriend feels a little guilty but mostly loves the clout. Has anyone here accidentally become a meme and if so how long did it take for people to finally leave you alone?
Back in 2019 I dropped a full tray of wings at a Buffalo Wild Wings during a playoff game and some guy got it on his phone. It hit 200k views on Twitter in like a week and for three months my coworkers called me Wing Man, which sounds cool but was really just sad. Took almost a year for people to stop bringing it up. The wild part is how random it is, like nobody plans this stuff, it just happens because you were in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Savannah is such a cool city though so at least your meme has a nice backdrop, mine was just carpet and ranch cups. Just lean into it and take the shirt money while it lasts because the internet moves on fast. Your boss will forget about it the second some other guy sneezes in public. Does your girlfriend still have the original clip up or did she take it down after it blew up?
