That guy who filmed his coffee order on TikTok got a cease and desist from the cafe owner in Portland...
I was standing right behind him at Stumptown on 12th when he started recording and the barista yelled at him for breaking their new no-filming rule, now I double check every spot's policy before pulling out my phone.

Yeah, have you ever had a barista just straight up tell you to put your phone away? I was at this indie spot in Seattle last summer, just snapping a quick pic of my latte art, and the owner came over and said no photos allowed. I was kinda taken aback at first, but he explained they had issues with people blocking the line and messing up the workflow. Now I always glance around for a sign or ask before I even take my phone out. It's honestly saved me from a few awkward moments, and most places are cool about it if you just ask first. Your mileage may vary, but being upfront about it has worked well for me so far.

Agree with you completely. It's just basic manners to ask before you start taking photos in a small business. People forget that a coffee shop isn't a museum or a backdrop for their social media. The baristas are trying to do their jobs and customers who camp out taking pictures slow everything down. I appreciate places that are upfront about their rules instead of letting you find out the hard way.
