That time I posted a funny selfie and woke up to 50k notifications

So last Friday I was bored at work and took a goofy selfie with my cat photobombing in the background. Nothing serious, just a quick snap with a silly face. I threw it up on Twitter as a joke and went back to sorting spreadsheets. By the time I got home around 6pm, my phone was literally vibrating nonstop from all the notifications. Turned out some big meme account reposted it and added a caption about my cat looking like a grumpy boss. Within two days it had over 200k likes and local news stations were emailing me for interviews. It was wild but also kind of overwhelming, I barely slept for a week. Has anyone else here had a random post blow up like that? How did you deal with all the attention?

Oh man, "50k notifications" - I had the exact same thing happen with a photo of my dog wearing sunglasses on a beach trip. It got picked up by some big page and suddenly I had reporters calling my work asking for a quote, which was just insane for something so random.

A hundred emails from local news for a cat photo seems like a lot.
