A buddy in Dallas swore the Arby's 'We Have the Meats' ad was shot with a real smoker, and now I'm in a 3 week argument about ad trickery
So my buddy who works at a BBQ joint in Dallas swore up and down that the Arby's 'We Have the Meats' spot used a real smoker on set, no props at all. He said his cousin was on the crew and the smoke was legit hickory, not some fog machine trick. I watched that same ad 11 times on YouTube last night and the smoke looks way too even to be real to me. Side one says ads are faked all the time so who cares, side two says if they lie about a smoker they'll lie about anything. Where do you all land on this, is a fake smoker in a food ad a harmless prop or a real fail worth calling out?

Man that sounds exhausting, 3 weeks on an Arby's ad is brutal. Gotta say I'm with you though, that smoke looks way too clean to be coming off a real smoker. Your buddy's cousin might be remembering it wrong or just messing with him.
