My neighbor's brisket method made me rethink everything

But what about the bark on the fat side?

A homeowner in Tempe told me my diagnostic process was too fast and I missed a secondary fault code on their Bosch dishwasher.

That's just good practice, not too fast.

Adapting my game hunting to a compressed work schedule

Derek's got the right idea. I used to just show up blind on Friday mornings and waste half the day driving between duds. Now I preview the photos Thursday night and map out a route. Last week I skipped three sales with nothing but old clothes and beeline for a house with visible vinyl records. Ended up with a stack of classic rock for two bucks each. That little bit of homework saves gas and time.

Just realized everyone is wrong about emergency funds needing to be six months of expenses.

Yeah, I read a blog post once that called it "offensive saving." The idea was to use part of your emergency fund to attack a money problem at its root, not just cover the symptoms. Your story is a perfect example. Keeping that cash parked forever feels safe, but it can also hold you back if you never use it to change your situation. The standard advice ignores that sometimes the biggest risk is not taking one. Obviously you don't bet it all, but using some for a real opportunity makes total sense.

I finally gave up on my old airlock setup for a simple cloth cover

Reminds me of my buddy who had the same issue @aaronclark. He was fermenting jalapenos in a fancy airlock jar, but the seal on the lid was actually cracked. Mold got in through that tiny gap, ruined the whole batch. He switched to just using a plate weighed down in a crock, and it's been smooth sailing for months now.
