TIL I counted 63 ads in one 22 minute YouTube video and now I can't stop noticing how bad it's gotten
I got bored on a slow evening and actually counted the ad breaks during a 22 minute video on my phone, and the number came out to 63. That includes the little banner ones and the ones that pop up mid sentence. It took me almost 40 minutes to finish the video because of all the stopping and starting. The worst part is a mattress ad played 9 times and I remember nothing else about it except a guy whispering about sleep. I want to know if this is just my account getting targeted or if everyone is seeing this many now. Has anyone else actually counted theirs, and what number did you get?

You stuck it out for 40 minutes on a 22 minute video? That is on you a little bit, my friend. I would have bailed after the third mattress guy started whispering. I get that ads are annoying but 63 feels like a number somebody got by counting every single overlay, banner, and skip button as its own separate ad just to make it sound worse. I have never sat there with a stopwatch counting them myself because who has the time. The real fix is just paying for Premium or using an ad blocker if it bugs you that much, problem solved.
