TIL I have muted 214 ads this month on Instagram and I feel crazy

I counted them last night out of pure spite and got to 214. The same 3 ads keep popping up, some guy yelling about a money app and a lady trying to sell me a greens powder. I swear the algorithm knows I hate them and shows me more. Does muting even do anything or am I just wasting my thumb at this point?
