My fabric swatch book from a trip to Tokyo three years ago just tried to eat my keys

I was digging through my old design stuff last night looking for a specific silk sample, the kind with that weird iridescent finish they do in Kyoto. I pulled out this massive binder from a market trip in 2021, and the whole thing just exploded. Hundreds of tiny fabric squares went flying everywhere, like a rainbow bomb went off in my living room. I spent the next hour on my hands and knees, picking wool tweed off the couch and trying to separate chiffon from corduroy. The worst part was finding my car keys stuck to a piece of super sticky fusible interfacing I'd totally forgotten was in there. Has anyone else had their past projects literally attack them? What's the most chaotic material you've ever worked with?

Question about a small batch of concrete I mixed with a splash of dish soap last week

I was trying to get a super smooth finish on a small patio slab in my backyard, so I added maybe a quarter cup of blue Dawn to the mix (which I heard could help with workability), but it ended up setting way slower and left a weird, almost foamy surface that I had to grind down.

The weird thing I saw at the county fair forge demo last week

Last week at the county fair, the smith doing the demo was using a 3 pound cross peen for everything, even drawing out thin stock. Three years ago, you'd see people switch hammers for different jobs. Last month at the guild meet, two new guys said they only own one hammer because a YouTube guy told them to 'master the tool'. It feels like a shift away from having the right tool for the job. Has anyone else run into this 'one hammer to rule them all' idea lately?

My frozen pizza came out weirdly wet in the middle after 12 minutes at 400

I was making a quick dinner last Tuesday and followed the box time for my air fryer. The crust got super crispy but the center was a soggy mess, like it steamed instead of baked. What temp and time do you use for frozen pizzas to get them cooked right all the way through?

Bought a $3000 heated vest for winter diving and it was a total waste

Everyone on my crew swore by them, but mine failed after two dives in Lake Michigan. The battery pack flooded and the whole thing just became dead weight. What's a better way to stay warm on long cold water jobs?

Just hit 500 hours on my new climbing saw and the vibration is already way off

I got a Husqvarna 540i XP about eight months ago for a big oak removal job in Charlotte, and the handle started buzzing my hand real bad yesterday. The manual says to check the mounts at 400 hours, but I figured I had more time. Anyone else run into this with the electric models, or is it just mine?

I thought those cheap color removers from the beauty supply store were a total scam.

A client came in with a box dye disaster, her hair was this weird orange from a black dye job. I grabbed a $5 color remover packet as a last try before a full bleach. It actually pulled most of the pigment out in 20 minutes, left her hair in way better shape than I expected. Now I keep a few on hand for corrections. Has anyone else found a budget product that actually works for color correction?
