That time an AI mashed up a lawnmower with a hedgehog and I couldn't stop laughing

I was sitting on my couch last Tuesday scrolling through this subreddit when someone posted an image of a hedgehog with a lawnmower deck for a belly. It looked like it was made to cut grass but with those little spines sticking out everywhere. I showed it to my buddy at the job site the next day and he said it reminded him of our old beat-up Toro that always left a mess. Got me thinking how weird it is that AI just pulls these random combos out of nowhere. Anyone else get stuck staring at one of these mashups way longer than you expected?

Rant: That baker who told me to stop kneading my sourdough so much

A guy at a swap meet in Phoenix last Saturday watched me work my dough and said I was overworking it, killing the structure before it even hit the basket. I dialed it back to 5 minutes of folding instead of 10, and my last loaf had way more oven spring. Anyone else gotten a reality check from a stranger that actually worked?

My propagator heat mat died mid-winter and killed 40 cuttings

I had a whole tray of succulent cuttings rooting on a heat mat in my basement, and last week the mat just stopped working... no lights, no heat, nothing. By the time I noticed, maybe 3 days later, the soil had dropped to 58 degrees and most of the echeveria leaves had rotted. I'm going to replace it with a different brand this time, maybe the Vivosun one with a thermostat probe. Anyone else had a heat mat fail on them like that?

Old timer told me to face my brush bristles a certain way, I blew him off for 6 years

Guy named Pete who swept since the 70s told me to always have the bristles angled up on the down stroke. I thought he was just being fussy. Then last winter I got a flue so caked I could barely get the rod through, and my regular way just pushed soot deeper into the cracks. Tried his method out of frustration and the brush grabbed the walls way better on the first pull. Anyone else get advice from an old timer that you ignored for way too long?

Tried going stove-less on the JMT last summer and the results were weird

I ditched my canister stove for cold soak meals and thought I'd save weight, but I ended up craving hot coffee so bad by day 4 that I almost grabbed someone else's abandoned stove. Has anyone else tried this and caved to the hot food urge mid-trail?

Hit exactly 500 friends last month, so I spent an afternoon scrolling through my feed and tallying who actually interacts. Only 18 people regularly like or comment on anything I share. Has anyone else done a reality check on their social media circle and been surprised by the numbers?

I used to think door hanger adjustments were a waste of time...

For the first few years in this trade, I honestly thought adjusting door hangers was a total scam. Like, I figured if the doors were closing, you were done, right? Then I got a callback on a job at a 6-story office building downtown about 4 months after I finished it. The doors were making this awful grinding noise and the customer was furious. I spent 2 hours digging into it, and finally realized the hanger brackets had shifted maybe half an inch over time. I tightened them up and aligned everything with a drop gauge, and the noise vanished. Now I take the extra 10 minutes to set hangers dead nuts on every install. Has anyone else found a trick for keeping those brackets from creeping after a few months?

Picked a 4K monitor over a drawing tablet for my digital art and now I am second guessing everything

I chose a Dell 27 inch 4K monitor instead of a Wacom Cintiq because I thought the color accuracy mattered more, but after a month of using it I still can not get my brush strokes to feel natural and honestly I am wondering if I made the wrong call, has anyone else run into this dilemma?
