Campaign metrics looked great until the client actually questioned one number
I had a campaign implode on me last month because I trusted the platform's built-in analytics without checking the source code. We were running a local lead gen push for a garage door company in Phoenix, and the cost per lead dipped to $4.50, which felt unreal. Turns out the form was submitting but the thank you page redirect was broken, so people filled it out and got an error, and the pixel counted them as conversions anyway. The client only found out because his sister tried to book a service and told him the site was glitchy. I spent a full weekend rebuilding the form flow and added a server side tracking layer that matches actual submissions to leads. My question is, how do you verify your conversion data when the numbers look abnormally good? I've started doing a random manual test every other week now, but I still feel like I'm missing something.
