Why does nobody talk about that 1984 Apple ad getting parodied in a 1998 frozen peas commercial
I was digging through a box of my mom's old VHS tapes from 1998 and found a frozen peas ad that straight up copied the whole 1984 Apple 'Big Brother' set, same gray jumpsuits and everything, and it made me realize how many food brands in the late 90s just stole iconic ad imagery because they knew nobody would sue them.
Ha, this is the exact kind of thing I'd waste a whole Saturday on, so thanks for dragging me into the rabbit hole. I actually collect old ads and I once spent three hours trying to convince my roommate that a 1997 cereal spot ripped off the Blade Runner set, and she just stared at me like I'd grown a second head. The frozen peas one is wild though, because a veggie brand jacking the most famous computer ad ever is peak late 90s "who's gonna notice" energy. Nobody was gonna sue over peas.
