Took my rescue pit mix to the PetSmart in Clearwater and 3 people asked if she was adoptable
I adopted Luna about 8 months ago from a shelter in Clearwater and she was super shy for the first month. Last Saturday I took her to the PetSmart on Gulf to Market for a nail trim and 3 different people stopped me to ask if she was up for adoption. She just sat there wagging her tail while a kid petted her, totally calm, and I was honestly so proud. What got me was one lady said she looked "too sweet to be a rescue" like all pit mixes are mean or something. I told her Luna came from a backyard breeder situation and needed 6 weeks to even eat in front of me. It made me think about how many good dogs sit in shelters just because of what they look like. Has anyone else dealt with the weird comments when you're out with your rescue?
Bro I get the "too sweet to be a rescue" thing all the time, like my dog must have some secret dark side just because he's got a blocky head. The funny part is I'm the one who looks like a rescue, dude with a pressure washer tan and a truck that barely starts, while my dog sits there looking like a show dog. People judge the wrong one in that pair every single time.
