My old boss told me mascots come in threes: the creepy one, the forgettable one, and the one that sticks forever. He was dead right. | Ads We Remember - SMM Buzz
I read a piece once about how sports teams go through mascot phases. The writer tracked the Cleveland Browns and said the dog mascot Chomps replaced some guy in a costume that nobody remembers now. Same pattern with cereal mascots too. You get a Boo Berry that creeps kids out, a generic one that fades, then a Tony the Tiger that never leaves. Three tries seems to be the magic number for something to actually stick.
