I found a stat saying people over 30 need 4 times as many tries to learn a TikTok dance
I tried learning that "Savage" dance in my living room here in Boise and after like 12 attempts I was still stepping on my own foot. Then I read a thing from a dance teacher saying grownups need about 4 times the reps that teens do because our brains just file new moves slower. So is it actually harder to learn this stuff when you're older, or did I just pick a bad first dance to try?
I read a study a while back that said adults actually learn new movements fine, it just takes more reps because our brains stopped making some of the fast wiring we had as kids. The dance teacher thing tracks with that. Your body still knows how to move, the shortcut just got a little slower. Picking Savage as your first one might have made it worse too, that dance has a lot of quick foot switches and weight shifts. Something with bigger, slower moves would probably feel less like fighting your own legs.
