My agency's arbitration clause used to be 12 pages of copy-paste, now it's one page and a short email
Six months ago I was pulling the same arbitration language from a 2019 template for every client, and one of them in Boise asked why paragraph 14 said the venue was in a city we had never worked in. I switched to a plain one pager plus a quick email that says what we actually agree to, and nobody has pushed back since. Has anyone else had a client catch stale boilerplate like that, or is it just me?
Old clauses don't have to tie your hands if you actually read them before signing. Most people just skim past that part and then act shocked years later when it comes back up. Taking ten minutes to go through the fine print saves you a lot more than ten minutes down the road.
