A guy told me my AI mashups were too chaotic and I actually listened

I was pumping out crossbreed images like a blender on crack, mixing a dragon with a toaster and then a giraffe with a lawnmower all in one week. He said pick two things that make sense together like a vacuum cleaner and a cat, not a random explosion of parts. Has anyone else had to rein in their creativity after a stranger's comment?

Laugh at myself here because I swear my first AI mashup was a toaster fused with a bicycle and it came out looking like a suicidal Roomba. Then this guy walks by, looks at my screen, and says "did you just throw two random things in a blender and hit go?" And I wanted to be mad but he was right. Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out if a coffee maker and a water fountain make sense together or if I'm just repeating old mistakes.

That vacuum cleaner and cat mashup actually has legs. You could do a Roomba with a tail that chases dust bunnies on its own. The key is picking two things that share a function or vibe instead of just throwing stuff at the wall. My buddy did a blender and a wood chipper, and it worked because they both chop things up.

You ever think about the sound design angle? A blender and a wood chipper might both chop, but one of them sounds like a jet engine and the other sounds like a demon eating a tree. If you're mashing two things up, the noise they make together could either be hilarious or terrifying. Like a cat that purrs like a vacuum cleaner instead of hissing. That's a whole different vibe nobody's talking about.
