Copilot told me to add 2 cups of mayonnaise to a cake recipe
Was baking a birthday cake last Saturday. Asked this AI baking assistant for a moist chocolate cake. It spat out this wild ingredient list. Said '2 cups mayo adds richness'. I actually measured it out. Stood there holding the mayo jar over the mixing bowl. My roommate walked in and just started laughing. I did NOT pour it in thank god. Tried a different recipe instead. That cake turned out fine. Has anyone else gotten food advice from AI that was just... dangerously wrong?

omg no way, that is absolutely wild lol. i would have been so tempted to just go for it out of sheer curiosity though. i once asked an AI for a simple pasta sauce recipe and it told me to add a whole cup of sugar, like i was making candy or something lol. thank goodness your roommate walked in, that could have been a total disaster for that birthday cake.

My last kitchen disaster was with AI too, I asked it for a 10-minute dinner idea and it told me to make a "creamy sriracha chicken" that involved reducing a whole bottle of heavy cream (like, a full quart) on high heat. It took me 45 minutes and the sauce separated into this weird oily mess, plus the chicken was basically boiled. Your sugar pasta thing is way funnier though, that's like a horror movie but for food. I think my AI was just trying to kill me in a different way (slowly, with cholesterol).

Wait, a full quart of heavy cream?? That's insane lol. That stuff is expensive too, what a waste. Your AI must have been trying to turn you into a butter factory or something. At least mayo in a cake is a known weird thing, but reducing heavy cream on high heat is just asking for a disaster, I've done that before and it's a hot mess every time haha.
