paid $50 for an AI resume tool that just rewrote my bullet points with fancier words
I thought it would actually scan job descriptions and tailor my resume, but it literally just swapped 'helped with' for 'facilitated team success'. wasted a whole afternoon fixing the generic mess it made. anyone else fall for these AI writing tools that do nothing useful?

lol $50 for a thesaurus with extra steps? thats rough buddy. i tried one of those ai cover letter things and it literally made me sound like a robot trying to sell a used car. like congrats you changed "good at talking to people" to "leveraged interpersonal synergy." what a waste. at least you learned your lesson early, some people pay way more for these scams. just go use chatgpt for free and double check everything yourself, it still messes stuff up.

funny you mention that @ray_hernandez because this is exactly the same problem with those resume "optimizer" websites too. they just swap out normal words for buzzwords that no actual hiring manager wants to see. its like everyone forgot you can just write a plain sentence and it works fine. companies are making bank off people being scared of sounding "unprofessional" when really they just want a normal human answer lol

Blake's got a good point too with those resume sites, just swapping normal words for buzzwords nobody asked for. ChatGPT can actually write decent first drafts if you tell it to keep things simple and human sounding. These paid services are basically charging for something you can do yourself in ten minutes with a free tool and a quick proofread.
