Thought AI photo cleanup was pure hype until my mom's 1978 wedding pic came back sharp
My mom handed me a shoebox of water damaged photos from 1978 and I figured those online AI restoration tools were all fake before and after shots. I ran one pic through a free tool at my kitchen table in Boise and it rebuilt my grandpa's face in about 40 seconds, no blur. Anyone else get burned by one of these tools or am I just late to the party?
Did you check what resolution you're feeding into the tool? That's where most people get burned. I scanned my aunt's old pics at 600 dpi with a cheap flatbed before running them through, and the results were night and day compared to the ones I just snapped with my phone. Free tools also love to slap a watermark or cap your file size, so if the first one flakes out, try another before you give up. Water damage is tricky though, tears and stains sometimes come back weird, so keep the original file in case you need to redo it.
