My frozen fries went from soggy to perfect in just 2 weeks

I always had a problem with frozen fries in my air fryer. They would come out limp and pale, like they were steamed. I followed the bag time of 15 minutes at 400 degrees, but it never worked. Then, I saw a tip online to soak them in hot water for 10 minutes before cooking. I tried it, and the difference was crazy. The fries got way crispier on the outside and stayed soft inside. Now I do it every time. But my neighbor says that's a waste of time and I should just spray them with oil and cook them longer. Which method actually works better for getting that real crunch?

Oh wow, the hot water trick is a game changer! I had the same soggy fry issue until I started patting them bone dry with paper towels after a quick rinse. That extra moisture removal, plus a light spray of oil, finally gave me that crunch. Your neighbor's longer cook time would probably just dry them out.

Paper towel method is the only way.

Yeah the paper towel thing is key. I also found letting them sit out for a bit after drying helps a ton.
