My sister swore I didn't need to preheat the air fryer. She was wrong.
She said it was just a waste of time and electricity. I tried making frozen chicken nuggets without preheating and they came out soggy on one side. After 3 tries with different temps I finally preheated for 5 minutes and they were perfect crispy. Has anyone else gotten bad results skipping the preheat step?

Preheating makes a big difference for sure. My air fryer manual actually says to always preheat for best results, so I never skip it. Frozen foods like nuggets or fries really need that blast of hot air from the start to get crispy evenly. Your sister meant well but she was dead wrong on this one.

You ever notice how people just skip reading manuals for anything these days... like we all think we know better until something goes wrong? @murphy.linda your sister probably had good intentions but that's the thing with air fryers, they work different than a regular oven. The preheat step is actually doing something specific with how the air circulates, not just warming things up. It's like how everyone swears their grandma's recipe is the only way but then leaves out a key step because "it doesn't matter" until the cookies come out flat.
