That cheap air fryer liner nearly ruined my chicken
I bought a 50 pack of those parchment paper liners from Amazon for like 8 bucks. First time using one, the paper flew up and touched the heating element and started smoking bad. Almost set off my smoke detector and the chicken came out half raw because I had to keep stopping to check on the paper. Anyone else had these liners cause problems or is it just me?

OH MAN, I totally feel your pain on this one. I actually watched a food safety guy on YouTube break down why those cheap air fryer liners are such a hazard. He said the lightweight paper flies up because the fan is too strong for it, and it's basically a fire waiting to happen. @kim819 is RIGHT about tossing the whole pack, I would've done the same thing after a mess like that. I heard the only way to use them safely is to put food on top to weigh them down, but that kind of defeats the whole cleaning purpose. Just glad you didn't burn the place down, that smelly smoke is the WORST.

That line about "that cheap air fryer liner nearly ruined my chicken" really hit home for me. My buddy Dave bought the same 50 pack from Amazon and tried using one with some fish sticks. The paper lifted up and got sucked right into the fan area somehow, and it melted onto the heating element. He said the smell was so bad he had to open every window in the house for hours. I agree with what @brian_rivera59 mentioned about the fan being too strong for that lightweight paper, my friend learned that the hard way. He ended up scraping off the melted plastic for a good 20 minutes and the air fryer never worked the same after that. He just uses a quick spray of oil on the basket now too and says it works fine without all that drama.

The 10-pack I got did the exact same thing on my very first use. I was making frozen wings and that liner flew right up into the heating coil within like 3 minutes. My whole kitchen smelled like burnt paper for two days and the smoke alarm went off right when my kids were asleep. I ended up tossing the whole pack in the trash because I didn't trust them after that. Now I just use a spritz of nonstick spray on the basket itself and it works way better. Those cheap liners are such a scam, they're more trouble than they're worth.
