Hit 1000 hours on my main work van this year and it made me rethink my whole setup.

I was just doing my end-of-year service check and the meter read 1002 hours. That's just engine-on time for jobs, not counting driving! I used to think my old way of having tools loose in bins was fine, but seeing that number made me realize how much time I was wasting digging for stuff. I spent about $400 on a new wall rack system last month, and I swear I'm saving 15 minutes every single job just by knowing where everything is instantly. Has anyone else tracked their van hours and made a big change because of it?

Hot take: Hours don't lie. Tracking that stuff is a real eye-opener, man. It's easy to ignore the little time sucks until you see the total adding up. Your rack system paying off already is the best proof. Makes me want to check my own meter, but I'm almost scared to see the number lol.

Man, you tracked your hours? I just look at the coffee stains on my floor and guess. My old setup was so bad I'd lose a screwdriver in a half-empty bin, like some kind of tool magic trick. I finally got a few cheap hooks and a tray for the common stuff, and now I feel like a genius for not having to unpack the whole van to find a tape measure.

Tool magic trick" is right, it's like the screwdriver just vanishes into thin air. I swear some bins eat tools for fun. Those cheap hooks are a game changer though, why do we all wait so long to do something so simple? Now you just need a system for the coffee stains so you can actually track your hours.
