Serious question, a guy on a job in Mesquite told me to stop sealing every exterior hole with silicone
I was on a panel swap in Mesquite last month and the older installer working the same street came over to look at my work. He pointed at the bead of silicone I had around a cable entry and said "drip loop and foam, save the silicone for the bath fans." I argued with him for a bit but he showed me a box he pulled 3 years ago where the silicone had trapped water against the connector and rusted it out. Now I do a drip loop on every outside run and seal with foam unless it's truly wet, and my callbacks on water intrusion have dropped to zero since May. Do you all seal every hole or leave the bottom of the entry open for drainage?
