Bought the complete set of a 90s anime on DVD for $150

I found someone selling the whole series of a show I watched as a kid on Craigslist. Paid $150 cash for all 26 discs, which felt like a steal compared to streaming rights that keep disappearing. Turns out half the discs were scratched beyond repair and the seller blocked me. Did anyone else get burned on old physical media or did you have better luck?

Man I bought a box set of Evangelion off eBay for $200 back in 2019 and three of the discs had this weird hazy film on them that made the video skip every ten minutes. The seller just ghosted me after I sent photos and I was out the cash because PayPal sided with them since they had tracking. I feel your pain hard because that same thing happened to me with a set of Cowboy Bebop where the cases were all cracked and smelled like cigarettes. Physical media is such a gamble now because people just sell their junk without even checking if it works.

That sucks, I really hate when sellers don't even test their stuff before shipping it out.
