Dropped the 1.5x speed habit after realizing I was missing the pauses

I used to watch everything at 1.5x speed, even serious dramas. Thought I was just being efficient. Then last month I put on Violet Evergarden at normal speed by accident and noticed the silence between lines actually carries the scene. That pause after she says something heavy, that's where the emotion lands. At 1.5x it just blurred into noise. Went back and rewatched a few episodes I'd sped through, and I felt like I was seeing them fresh. Now I only speed up recaps of shows I don't care about. Anyone else flip on this after years of fast-forwarding dialogue?

Man, this hit me hard because I did the exact same thing for like two years. I thought I was being smart with my time but really I was just ruining every show. What got me was when I went back to watch some comedy series and realized the jokes had no timing at all, like the punchline was just smushed into the setup. Now I keep a little trick where I put everything on 1x but if a scene drags too much I bump it to 1.25 just for that part. You gotta keep the pauses, theyre not wasted time, thats where your brain catches up and feels stuff.
