Debate: Should writers outline first or just dive in? I switched camps hard.

Three pages into a crime novel I was writing, a character who was supposed to just hand over a key ended up confessing to a murder I had no idea was coming. That kind of thing happens to me every few chapters, and I swear I couldn't plan for it if I tried. But here's what gets me - how do you keep the story from falling apart when you hit a dead end or write yourself into a corner with no outline to pull you out? Do you just backtrack and rewrite, or do you force your way forward until something clicks?

That time a bridge loan's fine print ate my closing costs

Your buddy's story about the three grand is rough but it makes you wonder why title companies don't flag these penalties for the buyer since they're the ones running the numbers anyway. I had a title officer once tell me off the record that they see these clauses all the time but legally they can't step in unless the buyer asks. Makes you think they should be required to point out anything over a certain dollar amount in penalties before anyone sits down to sign.

Scrolled past a comment on a hiking post that made me stop and laugh out loud

Bro just scroll past the lazy jokes and reply to the ones about trail conditions, that's where the real info is.

That guy who said 'just do shorts, they're easy money' was dead wrong

And then you realize shorts train people to scroll past your content without thinking twice.
