Just realized watching anime at 1.25x speed actually works for seasonal shows
I was dead against speed watching for years, but with 12 new episodes dropping each week on my backlog, I tried it on a slow slice of life last Tuesday and now I'm caught up through 3 seasons without missing any key plot beats, has anyone else found a speed setting that ruins or fixes certain genres for them?

Eating a burger without the bun" is a perfect way to put it. That's exactly what speed watching does to the quiet shows, you lose the whole vibe. But for the trashy seasonal stuff where nothing happens for 20 minutes, yeah, 1.25x is basically a gift. I tried it on a romance once and the slow burn just became a slightly less slow burn, which honestly ruined the tension for me. It really is all about what you're watching.

Speed watching a slow slice of life is kinda cheating yourself out of the mood though. Those quiet scenes are the whole point, like eating a burger without the bun. I tried it on a thriller once and it actually made the twists hit differently, so it's really genre dependent.
