The licensing mess in Southeast Asia means most legal sites have maybe 30% of the seasonal lineup. So when everyone's hyping about a new episode on Twitter, you're stuck waiting months for an official release. Unofficial streams let you be part of that talk right away, which is why they're so common. It's not great, but until companies get global releases sorted, people will find ways to watch. I get why fans do it, even if it's a legal risk.

Netflix here skipped five new anime, so everyone used unofficial sites, a pattern with region-locked content.
