I used to cut crown molding flat against the miter saw fence for speed. On a recent job, that method left a visible gap at the corner that I had to fix with filler. Watching an experienced guy cut it at the proper angle showed me the right technique. Now I always take the extra second to set the moldings up correctly.
Catching them early saves a ton of rework.
