The debate thread about dubs vs subs got me switching sides after 14 years

I was scrolling through a packed thread on Thursday night, like 400 comments deep, and one guy said he watches every anime dubbed because he likes cleaning while he watches. That hit different because I always thought dub fans were just lazy, but he made a solid point about enjoying the show on your own terms. It got me thinking about how I've been gatekeeping myself with subs since 2011, so I tried a dubbed episode of an old favorite the next day and honestly didn't hate it. Has anyone else flipped their stance on something like this after a random comment, or am I the only one who caves to peer pressure from strangers?

and honestly that cleaning argument works both ways because if youre not reading subs youre probably missing half the plot anyway, i swear dub watchers treat anime like background noise instead of actually watching it. i tried switching to dubs for a week a few years back and the voice acting felt so flat compared to the original, like all the emotion just got sucked out of the scenes. at the end of the day subs force you to pay attention which is the whole point of sitting down to watch something in the first place, so i dont see how that guy's take is anything but an excuse.
