Unpopular opinion: the "skip opening" crowd is missing half the show

My buddy told me to always skip the OP and ED to save time, so I did for like 6 months straight. Then I watched Jujutsu Kaisen S2 and realized the visuals literally change to match the arc, and I'd been missing those details the whole time. Has anyone else had a friend give anime advice that turned out to be totally backwards?

Man I read somewhere that anime studios put actual story hints in those openings, so skipping them is like skipping clues.

Dude that sucks, your buddy totally steered you wrong. I had the same thing happen and felt like I was playing myself for months.
