Figured out why my hinge cuts kept pinching the saw blade
I was cutting a 14 inch limb over on Pine St near the old mill and my saw kept binding up every single time. Tried everything, new chain, sharpened the rakers, nothing helped. Then an older climber named Ray showed me to cut a small notch on the underside first before going down from the top. Did 9 more cuts that afternoon with zero pinching. Anyone else learn this the hard way?
Wait, you're supposed to notch the underside first? I've been just going straight down from the top and fighting my saw like an idiot for years. Ray sounds like the kind of guy who saves you a whole afternoon of cussing.
