I was cleaning out my grandpa's shed and found two old trowels, one sharp and one dull
I took them both to help with a local dig at the old mill site last weekend. The sharp one cut through the clay like butter, letting me feel every little change in the soil. The dull one just mashed everything together, and I almost missed a tiny glass bead. Has anyone else had a tool make that big a difference on a site?

My grandpa had a shed full of old tools and I never thought to check for trowels. You finding a sharp one in there is wild, they're usually all rusted solid. That bead would have been lost for sure with the wrong tool, it's crazy how much it matters. I'm gonna go poke around in my own garage now.

Honestly, I've had the opposite happen. A super sharp trowel can be a real problem. It's too easy to scratch or cut right through something fragile before you even feel it. That dull one might mash things a bit, but it forces you to go slow and careful. Sometimes a less perfect tool makes you pay better attention.
