My year-long project with a basic camera taught me more than any gear upgrade
I've been shooting the night sky for a long time, and I used to think better gear meant better photos. Then I started a project last year to only use my old camera and a simple tripod. I focused on capturing the moon's phases and bright planets like Jupiter and Saturn. After months of practice, I got shots that I'm really proud of, without spending a lot of money. The key was learning patience and understanding my camera's settings. Now, I tell everyone that skill beats fancy equipment every time. This hobby is about the joy of seeing the cosmos, not having the latest tools. Let's focus on what we can do with what we have.

Totally agree with that. My old basic digital camera caught the ISS passing by once, no special gear at all.
