Blew through 3 paint guns before I learned to clean my own regulator

I was spraying a fender in my shop near Tacoma last month and the finish kept coming out textured no matter what I did, turned out my air regulator had moisture building up inside because I never drained it. Swapped to a spare gun, same issue, then finally checked the moisture trap and it was full of water. How often do you guys actually service your air lines, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way after burning $600 on replacement parts?

Man that sucks, but honestly you're not alone. I did the same thing with a HVLP gun a few years back, kept chasing bad finishes until I realized my compressor tank had been sitting with water in it for months. Now I drain the tank every morning before I start and hit the regulator with a blow gun once a week, just takes a minute but saves a ton of headache. Those moisture traps fill up way faster than people think, especially in the PNW where the air's already thick.
