I finally stopped using cheap sandpaper on clear coat repairs

About 3 years ago at the shop in Tacoma, I was fixing a clear coat scratch on a black Honda and used some 2000-grit from a discount pack. The finish looked hazy for weeks after buffing. My boss, Ray, made me redo the whole panel with 3M Trizact and it came out perfect. Anyone have a go-to brand for wet sanding that doesn't leave micro-scratches?

Yeah, I used to grab whatever was cheap too. That haze is the worst. Now I just stick with the Trizact discs, they're worth the extra couple bucks.

Cheap stuff is just false economy. I ruined a whole hood on a gray Toyota with some no-name paper that shed grit everywhere. The haze was so bad it looked like I polished it with steel wool. Now I just use the Mirka Abranet mesh sheets for wet work. They last forever and the dust doesn't clog them up.
