My uncle swore by using a hair dryer to fix a small dent

He told me to heat it up for a full minute, then pop it out with a suction cup. I tried it on a Honda Civic door last week. The paint bubbled up like a bad sunburn. Anyone have a real fix for a dent the size of a golf ball without wrecking the finish?

Oof, that sounds rough. But is the paint actually cracked, or just bubbled? Might not be as bad as it looks.

You know, I always thought that too about paint just bubbling. But last year I had this spot on my ceiling that looked bubbled, and when I poked it, the whole thing was cracked and flaky underneath. It was a way bigger fix than I thought. So now I'm pretty sure any kind of lifting is a bad sign.
