Paint matching by eye vs. spectrometer, which side are you on?
I hit 500 paint jobs last month at the shop in Denver and realized I still mix most clears by feel, but my buddy swears his $3,000 spectrometer never lies on tri-coats. Is the old-school eye really dead, or are we just justifying the tool bill? Has anyone else crossed a milestone and questioned their whole process?

Three weeks ago I matched a burnt orange by squinting at it for twenty minutes and it came out so wrong the customer asked if we were painting a pumpkin. My spectrometer is still in the box with the receipt taped to it, so honestly I'm not the one to ask about tool judgment.
