Rant: Insurance estimator told me to section a panel I'd normally replace

Had a State Farm adjuster in Tulsa last Tuesday argue that I should section a quarter panel on a 2018 F-150 because the damage was 'contained.' I've been doing this 14 years and sectioning that thing would leave a weld seam right in the wheel arch. Am I crazy for pushing back, or is everyone else seeing more of these cost-saving calls that just create comebacks down the road?
