TIL my torque wrench was 40 lb-ft off after I dropped it on concrete

I was doing a brake caliper bracket swap on my 2014 F-150 in my driveway last Tuesday, and I torqued the bolts to spec like always. Then the driver side bracket sheared clean off driving down I-35, and I nearly ended up in the ditch. I took the wrench to a local calibration shop, and turns out the drop from my workbench three months back had thrown the internals way off. They charged me $85 to reset and test it, which is way cheaper than the tow bill and new rotor I had to buy. Do you guys drop-test your torque wrenches on a regular basis, or am I just the unlucky one?

$85 to fix a torque wrench? The part that gets me is the shop actually told you how far off it was. Mine probably wouldn't even admit it was broken.
