I finally believed the online reviews about a broker after my car got held up in Ohio

I shipped my Honda from Dallas to Chicago last month. I saw this broker had good reviews but I figured they were all fake like most online stuff. My car got stuck at a yard in Toledo for 3 days because the driver had a family emergency. The broker called me every morning with updates, no BS. They even knocked $50 off the bill without me asking. Has anyone else had a broker actually come through when things went sideways?

Had a similar thing happen with a shipment last year. Best move is to get the driver's direct number from the broker upfront so you can check in yourself when delays hit.

@victor220 that's solid advice but here's the thing nobody talks about - half the time those drivers don't answer their phones because they're driving through dead zones or just tired of getting called by randos. lol. what actually worked for me was swapping numbers with the dispatcher instead. they actually pick up and can relay messages to the driver faster than you chasing them down. plus you can ask the dispatcher for the driver's eta while they're stopped for fuel or whatever. learned that one the hard way after spending 3 hours trying to reach a driver who was sitting in a weigh station with zero service.
