Swapped from DME to Garmin G3X in my RV-7 last month
The Garmin was way more expensive (around $8k more), but the touchscreen interface and auto-slewing saved me hours of button mashing during my last IFR flight. Has anyone else made the switch and regretted not doing it sooner?

Connecting a backup steam gauge to the G3X would have been cheaper than the whole Garmin setup, wouldn't it? Autopilot integration aside, that extra $8k could've funded a lot of avgas.

@phoenix_thompson4 keeps forgetting backups need to work when everything else fails, not just save a buck.
