I finally stopped losing tent stakes in the dirt after a trip to Oregon

I was sick of digging around for stakes every morning until a guy at a campground near Bend showed me how to wrap the cord in bright duct tape. Now I spot them instantly even in tall grass. Has anyone else tried marking their gear like this?

And that tape trick is a GAME changer, like the Oregon guy basically saved you a ton of morning frustration. I took it one step further actually - instead of just the cord, I wrapped a band of that bright duct tape around the stake itself too, near the top. That way even if the cord gets buried, the stake catches the light and you can spot it from across the site. Just make sure you use the EXACT same color on both so you're not hunting for two different shades of neon.

Wait, you're telling me there are people out there who actually own TWO different shades of neon duct tape? I'm over here with one roll of highlighter yellow I bought five years ago and that's it, I use it for everything from tent repairs to marking my car keys when I drop them in the dirt. Never even considered someone would have a whole rainbow of tape colors just sitting around. That's some next level campsite organization I didn't know existed.
