Fence post concrete took 3 weekends, not 3 hours

I dug 8 holes for a new privacy fence last month and thought quick-set concrete would have me done in a day. The instructions on the bag lied, or I misread them badly, because each post needed a full 24 hours to firm up in the clay soil we have near Tacoma. By the time I leveled everything and let it cure properly, I was on weekend three and my wife was questioning why I started the project. Has anyone else found that the bag's cure time is way off when you hit dense ground, or was it just my luck?
