Used stakes and string for 3 years before I watched a guy in Fresno set his garden rows
I always ran my string line down the row and eyeballed the stake spacing, which meant half my drip lines were 2 inches off by the far end. Last month I watched a guy at the community garden off Cedar Ave use a tape measure and a 4 foot board with marks on it to set every stake. Turns out the board cost him 6 bucks and cut his layout time in half. Anyone else got a cheap jig like that for spacing or do you just wing it?
A 4 foot board with marks on it. So the big secret to straight rows is basically a fancy ruler from the scrap pile. I spent three years fighting my string line and crooked stakes while this guy solved it for 6 bucks in an afternoon. Next thing you'll tell me he levels his beds with a 2x4 and a bubble too.
