Spent $22 on a projector screen for the backyard and it turned our bad movie night into a real event
Bought a cheapo 100 inch screen off the internet 3 weeks ago for $22 and we hung it on the fence behind our place in Mesa. Before that we were all squinting at a laptop on the patio table and half the group just gave up and talked through the whole film. Now we do one terrible movie every Friday, last time it was a shark tornado sequel and people actually brought folding chairs and snacks. The picture is kinda washed out until it gets fully dark but for 22 bucks I am not fussing. What is your go to pick when the screen is bigger than the acting is good?
Man, my buddy did the same thing two summers back and it changed his whole street. He hooked a bedsheet to the garage door with bungee cords and ran a cheap projector off his laptop, and within a month half the block was showing up with lawn chairs. His rule was simple: the worse the movie, the better the night, so stuff like Mega Shark and anything with a giant snake in it got the biggest laughs. One time a neighbor brought a cooler of root beer floats and people stayed until midnight arguing about the plot holes. For your setup I would go with Troll 2 or The Room if you have not done those yet, they play great to a crowd that is already laughing. Sound quality is the one thing that got him, though, so if your group is big you might want a little speaker because nobody can riff on dialogue they cannot hear.
