Overheard a bank teller tell a customer 'just use mobile deposit' and it bugged me

I was in line at my local Chase branch downtown last Tuesday and this older woman in front of me had a check for $3,800 from selling her car. The teller just waved her off saying 'you can do this on your phone you know' without even asking if she had a smartphone or was comfortable with it. She looked super confused and asked if she could just hand it over like normal. The teller sighed and took it but I could tell the lady felt stupid for not knowing the app thing. I get that banks want to push digital but what about people who don't want that or literally can't use it? Has anyone else seen branches basically refusing to do basic stuff in person anymore?

Wait, the teller actually sighed at her for wanting to hand over a check in person? That's insane to me. I get that banks want everyone to use apps, but sighing at an older lady who probably doesn't even know what mobile deposit is just makes her feel like a burden. It's not her fault the bank is trying to save a few bucks on teller salaries. She's there to do business, not to get judged for not having the latest phone. Honestly, stuff like this is why people are starting to hate going into banks at all.

Did the teller at least offer to show her how the app works?

Yeah that would've been the smart play. Most tellers don't think to offer that though. I've had to ask for it myself a few times.
