Remember when you had to wait in line at the bank on a Friday afternoon?

I was at my local branch in Cleveland about eight years ago, trying to deposit a check before they closed. The line was out the door and I missed the cutoff by five minutes. That was the push I needed to finally set up mobile deposit. Now I just take a picture and it's done. Does anyone else still have a bank they actually go into, or is it all apps now?

What's so bad about going into a bank? I still go to mine every few weeks. It feels more real to talk to a person and hand them a check. Apps can mess up, and then you're stuck talking to a robot on the phone. Don't you miss knowing the people who handle your money?

You said apps mess up and then you're stuck with a robot, but that's backwards for me. My bank's app has never lost a check deposit. The one time I had a problem, the app had a button to call a real person right away. Going into the branch is where I've waited in line for twenty minutes just to talk to a teller who doesn't remember me anyway.

Remember when banks had lollipops and tellers who knew your name? Mine just has a line for the one human teller left, and a carpet that smells like old regret. I'll take my chances with the app and its "call a person" button over that sad vibe any day.
